World automatic entry leader Gilgen Door Systems AG boosts Australian design and construction choices with brand expansion

A world leader in precision engineered, aesthetically attractive, and functionally innovative automatic entry systems, Gilgen Door Systems AG, is expanding its brand and range in Australia with its rebranding of Access Entry Automatic Door Solutions .

The Swiss company has negotiated a majority shareholding in Access Entry, which will rebrand from February 1 into a new company led by ongoing shareholder and Managing Director, Richard Whitfield.

Mr Whitfield says the newly rebranded Australian Gilgen Door Systems will combine the valuable core of established local knowledge, service and capabilities developed over 25 years by Access Entry, with the resources of a company that is a market leader in 80 countries.

“This brand expansion is a great development for architects, builders, property investors, and owners or managers of broad categories of commercial and government buildings, to whom we can provide very welcome, fresh and innovative ranges backed by excellent service through an established, knowledgeable, and expanding workforce already in place,” says Richard.

Access Entry recently celebrated its 25th anniversary as a leading product and service supplier to commercial, industrial, government, and retail facilities, including shopping centres and cool room facilities, as well as having strong expertise in the hospitals, aged care, and education markets throughout our national footprint.

Gilgen Door Systems – founded in 1961 and with more than 1,000 staff working on landmark projects – is known internationally for its innovative solutions that prioritise function, design, and sustainability.

Major components of its ranges include automatic door systems, gates, and sliding walls, platform screen doors, high security shutters, drive systems based on the core technology of its automatic systems, and specialised solutions tailored for unique applications.

“The international group’s new Australian subsidiary Gilgen Door Systems will build on the success of a company with a proven track record of more than 25 years of successful operation, offering installation, maintenance, and 24/7 support to major market sectors,” says Whitfield.

“Building on this valued core, we will expand our focus within existing and new markets, including

  • Public and private commercial buildings, extending from corporate HQs to multi-tenant facilities, data centres and high-value facilities requiring high-security door and gate systems of a quality and flexibility that combine strong traffic flow with aesthetically pleasing security functionality. This is a market, for which demand in Australia is strong and rising, says Richard.
  • Infrastructure projects, a field in which the international parent has specialised in large-scale and custom automatic door and gate systems for sectors like public transport, tunnels, and large buildings. This expertise includes installing platform screen doors for metro lines, custom doors and gates for tunnels and cable cars, and automatic door systems for modern buildings like corporate headquarters, focused on providing solutions for high-traffic areas that require enhanced safety, security, and operational efficiency.
  • New market areas in Australia that will benefit from a company ethos that, since its foundation, has emphasised a clear and continuing goal: in the perfection of automatic drive systems for doors and the introduction of advanced technology to achieve such aims. An example of new Gilgen technology is Gilgen Connect, an intelligent door system for modern building management that uses IoT technology to provide digital access and control for connected doors and gates.
  • Service, where the customer always takes priority, with assets such as existing service teams in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane augmented by the Gilgen Academy training centre at the company’s new Melbourne headquarters, where service technicians and customer service staff are trained on Gilgen products.

Local assets are complemented by International support from Gilgen Door Systems AG 24/7, 365-day customer service telephone links which draw on the skills of over 200 qualified specialists who are available for quick interventions as required.

Gilgen Door Systems AG is part of the Nabtesco group, a Japanese engineering company that specialises in gearboxes, rotors, motors and robotics. Group members share philosophies of sustainable company growth driven by a culture of continuous improvement, a passion for challenging the future, and collaborative innovation.
